Soudal Quick-Step Makes Strong Start and Takes Team Lead in Luxembourg

Despite a quieter than expected first day at the Tour de Luxembourg, Soudal Quick-Step had a strong showing and now leads in the team classification. The race was animated by a four-man breakaway that held off the peloton for most of the day.

Dries Devenyns, in his final races as a professional cyclist, played a pivotal role in controlling the gap between the breakaway and the peloton. The group caught the attackers near the end of the race, just before the challenging climb of Côte de Stafelter.

Although another attempt at a breakaway was quickly shut down on the descent, Soudal Quick-Step riders remained prominent as the peloton climbed once again. The finale was hectic due to a tight corner near the finish line, but Fausto Masnada and Ilan Van Wilder performed well, both finishing in the top ten on the stage won by Corbin Strong of Israel – Premier Tech.

Andrea Bagioli expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying, “Things didn’t turn out quite how we wanted in the sprint, but both the legs and the confidence are there, and with four stages still to go, we’re determined to do a good race here.”

Soudal Quick-Step’s strong start positions them well for the rest of the race, and they will be looking to build on their success in the coming stages.
