Simone Velasco Claims Victory in Italian National Championships

Simone Velasco of Astana Qazaqstan Team emerged as the new Italian National Champion, triumphing in the grueling 227 km road race in Comano Terme. Velasco crossed the finish line in a small leading group of six riders, showcasing his superior sprinting skills.

“It was a very tough race but as a team we managed to do it in a right way. We were always up there in front, working hard and controlling the situation.” – Simone Velasco

Reflecting on the team’s strategy and support, Velasco expressed his gratitude to his teammates:

“This victory is very emotional to me, and it gives me a great motivation to the future, to continue working hard pursuing the next big goals.”

Velasco’s win in the Italian National Championships marks his second triumph of the season, following his Stage 3 victory in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. Astana Qazaqstan Team also saw success with Christian Scaroni finishing 9th and Samuele Battistella finishing 10th in the race.
