Simon Carr, a rising star in the cycling world, has emerged victorious at the Tour de Langkawi. Born to Welsh parents in the south of France, Carr grew up surrounded by the picturesque Pyrénées region. His upbringing was deeply rooted in French culture, with his family speaking English only at home.
Carr’s cycling journey began on an old mountain bike that was lying around his home. Initially, he struggled with trials and downhill riding, but found success in endurance cross-country races. The allure of the nearby mountains eventually led him to pave his way into road cycling, as he dreamt of conquering the formidable cols of the Tour de France.
In 2021, Carr made the leap to the World Tour with EF Education-Easypost. He achieved notable feats, including completing his first grand tour, the Giro, winning the young rider’s classification at his home stage race, the Tour de Occitanie, and finishing an impressive 11th at the Strade Bianche. His performances throughout the year showcased his talent and potential.
With dreams of victory in grand tour mountain stages and classics like Liêge-Bastogne-Liêge, Carr’s ambition knows no bounds. His recent triumph at the Tour de Langkawi only solidifies his status as a promising climber on the international stage.
