Merlier Reclaims Green Jersey at UAE Tour

Belgian cyclist Tim Merlier has once again taken the lead in the points classification at the UAE Tour after a strong performance in stage 5. Despite finishing second in the stage, Merlier’s sixth podium finish of the season secured him the coveted green jersey.

Merlier expressed his mixed feelings about the race, stating, “Today was a really close one. I am disappointed, of course, because I didn’t win, as I had the legs and the confidence, but at the same time I am happy with getting back the green jersey.”

With just one more opportunity for sprinters at the UAE Tour, Merlier is optimistic about his chances of maintaining his lead in the classification. He remarked, “I have a pretty good advantage in the standings and hopefully it will be mine also mathematically after Saturday, when I will try again with the help of my team.”

Merlier’s performance at the UAE Tour follows his previous victory at the AlUla Tour, demonstrating his consistency and skill as a sprinter. The race for the green jersey is set to continue, with Merlier in pole position to secure the title once again.
