Brennan and Kooij on the attack in sixth stage of Tour de Pologne
# Brennan and Kooij Struggle in Tough Sixth Stage of Tour de Pologne
In the challenging sixth stage of the Tour de Pologne, spanning 150 kilometers, cyclists faced a series of seven steep climbs that tested their endurance. Early on, Menno Huising initiated the first breakaway, but the Dutch rider and his companions were quickly reabsorbed back into the peloton.
However, a promising group of nine riders soon formed, featuring previous stage winners Matthew Brennan and Olav Kooij. Despite their pedigree, the leading pack struggled to maintain a substantial lead, never exceeding two minutes over the peloton. As the steep climbs continued to take their toll, both Brennan and Kooij were eventually forced to drop back.
The final stretch saw Victor Langellotti of INEOS Grenadiers showing formidable strength, ultimately claiming victory. Meanwhile, Huising and Attila Valter managed to finish in the chasing group, with notable efforts in the last kilometers.
Jesper Mørkøv, sports director for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, commented on the day’s results, stating, “Both Olav and Matthew gave it their all in the breakaway, but unfortunately, the group never got much space from the peloton. It proved impossible for them to survive the last climbs of the day. Menno and Attila also put in a great effort in the final stretch in the second group, but this was the highest result possible today.”
As the riders look forward to tomorrow’s final individual time trial in Wieliczka, the competition remains fierce, promising an exciting conclusion to the Tour de Pologne.
