Rising Star Mason Hollyman Set to Turn Pro with Israel – Premier Tech in 2023
Premier Tech’s roster for 2023 will be strengthened with the addition of Mason Hollyman, who will join the team from Israel Cycling Academy on a two-year contract. Hollyman, a 21-year-old talent from the UK, has impressed during his time with ICA and is highly regarded as one of the country’s brightest new riders.
Kjell Carlström, IPT General Manager, spoke highly of Hollyman’s potential, stating, “Mason Hollyman is one of the most promising talents when it comes to the next generation of General Classification riders.” Carlström highlighted Hollyman’s victory at Volta a Portugal last year as a sign of his potential and his impressive fourth-place finish in Trofea Piva and fifth-place finish in the U23 Liège-Bastogne-Liège this year.
Hollyman will be the third rider from ICA to transition to the WorldTour level for Israel – Premier Tech in 2023, and Carlström believes this investment in young talent will bring a diverse skill set to the team.
Sylvan Adams, IPT Partner, expressed his excitement about Hollyman’s arrival, along with the signings of Derek Gee and Marco Frigo. He cited these recent announcements as a validation of their rider development program and believes that the team’s mix of young talents and experienced riders positions them for continued progress.
Hollyman, originally from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, has already had the opportunity to learn from seasoned riders like Chris Froome while racing for IPT this season. He expressed his gratitude for the chance to ride and learn from his childhood hero and is thrilled to turn pro with Israel – Premier Tech.
Looking ahead, Hollyman aims to find his niche in road cycling and see where he excels. He hopes to use the next two years to explore his capabilities and find his place in the sport. Hollyman mentioned his interest in competing in Grand Tours and believes that climbs offer him the best opportunity for success. He enjoys both one-day Ardennes-style races and stage races, indicating that he will focus on these disciplines to maximize his potential.
