Celebrating the First Anniversary of the Field of Dreams Cycling Center in Bugesera, Rwanda
Reflecting on The Field of Dreams cycling center’s first anniversary, the celebratory event in Bugesera, Rwanda marked a significant milestone in the initiative’s impact on the local community. The center, established by the Israel – Premier Tech team and its owner Sylvan Adams with the support of over 1000 team fans, has become a cornerstone for the youth and broader community. The anniversary event was a momentous occasion graced by the presence of four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome, who highlighted the center’s impact and its potential to produce top-level professional cyclists from Bugesera.
While Israel – Premier Tech team owner Sylvan Adams was unable to attend, he expressed pride in the project’s progress and reaffirmed his commitment to its development, emphasizing the project’s reflection of their values of improving the world and promoting peace and friendship globally.
The center has already made significant strides in hosting junior racing events, training camps, and youth development programs, with record participation and increasing engagement from the community. The event was attended by key figures such as the Israeli Ambassador to Rwanda, the Mayor of Bugesera, and representatives from the Rwandan Cycling Federation, highlighting the broad support and collaboration that has made the center a beacon of hope and development in Rwandan cycling.
Looking ahead, the center aims to further its impact by introducing new race bikes for children and establishing junior cycling teams in local schools, solidifying its commitment to broadening its reach and influence in the region. The anniversary event not only celebrated past achievements but also set the stage for future growth, embodying the spirit of collaboration and community that defines the Field of Dreams.
Following the celebratory event, the team paid tribute to the nearby Ntarama Genocide Memorial Centre, honoring the lives lost in 1994, showcasing a commitment to both sporting development and historical remembrance in Rwanda.
