Ninth place for Veenhoven in Nokere Koerse
The Dutch cycling formation constantly showed itself at the front throughout the race on the many cobble sections. Despite numerous attack attempts from riders in the peloton, the eventual attackers did not gain a large lead. Margaux Vigié also tried to escape, but the Frenchwoman’s attempt failed. Teammate Eva van Agt was involved in a crash in the finale of the race, but fortunately was able to continue her way.A sprint in Nokere was inevitable. The organization had changed the traditional finish on the Nokereberg this year for safety reasons. No uphill finish on cobbles this time, but a tough hill as a finale. Veenhoven eventually sprinted to ninth place behind winner Marta Lach.
“Nienke finishing ninth here offers a lot of perspective for later”
sports director Jos van Emden

Sports director Van Emden had drawn up a clear plan with his riders beforehand. “The plan today was to ride attractively at the front and protect Nienke until the final. That worked out and the team did well. Certainly Sophie von Berswordt and Margaux Vigié helped Nienke well into the final and positioned her well for the final cobble section.”“The fact that Nienke then sprinted to a top-ten ranking is impressive”, Van Emden says. “She is developing strongly. You can see that such a sprint with a climb in the final is still difficult, but that Nienke finishes ninth here offers a lot of perspective for later. I’m very satisfied with that today.”
