ProTeam Lotto Soudal Bolsters Sprint Train with Jacopo Guarnieri

The experienced Italian rider Jacopo Guarnieri has joined the Lotto Soudal team as part of their sprint train. Guarnieri, who has previously won stages in prestigious races such as Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde and Tour de Pologne, signed a two-year contract with the team.

Guarnieri brings years of experience in sprint finishes and has transitioned into a lead-out role for top sprinters. Speaking about joining Lotto Soudal, Guarnieri expressed his excitement, saying, “I was actually flattered by the interest of Lotto Soudal… This is a team with a great history of sprinters and lead-out trains.”

The Italian rider is particularly eager to work with Caleb Ewan and Arnaud De Lie, two fast sprinters within the team. Guarnieri mentioned that he has already had a positive conversation with Ewan and is looking forward to the upcoming seasons.

The addition of Guarnieri is part of Lotto Soudal’s ongoing efforts to improve their sprint train. CEO John Lelangue emphasized the importance of constantly seeking improvement, stating, “With Caleb Ewan, we have one of the fastest sprinters of the peloton, but Arnaud De Lie has proven this year that he deserves to be surrounded by strong riders who know how to guide a sprinter too.”

Guarnieri also highlighted the significance of teamwork in a successful lead-out, stating, “A lead-out is more than just power or luck… A good feeling amongst all involved in the train is crucial.” With his experience and expertise, Guarnieri aims to contribute to the team’s success.

The addition of Jacopo Guarnieri is a significant step in bolstering Lotto Soudal’s sprint train and enhancing their chances of victory in bunch sprints.
