ProTeam Rider Lennert Van Eetvelt Excited for Challenging Conditions at Strade Bianche

In an interview, Lennert Van Eetvelt expressed his anticipation for the challenging conditions at the upcoming Strade Bianche race. He remarked, “It will be muddy and therefore even more challenging, but that’s not necessarily a disadvantage.”

Van Eetvelt shared his excitement about riding the course, mentioning, “I rode the last 180 kilometers of the course yesterday and it was the most beautiful recon I’ve ever done.” Despite the wet and muddy conditions expected due to rain, Van Eetvelt sees this as a potential advantage, stating, “I think the chance of crashes decreases when those gravel roads are a bit wet.”

Reflecting on his recent success at the UAE Tour, where he claimed a stage win and the overall victory, Van Eetvelt admitted it was unexpected. “It was a really strange week. I never expected to win in the Emirates at all,” he said. He attributed his success to taking risks and embracing opportunities as they arose.

Looking ahead to the Strade Bianche race, Van Eetvelt is hopeful for a strong performance alongside teammate Maxim Van Gils. “We’re both in super good shape, I think a lot is possible,” he stated. Despite the unpredictable nature of the race, Van Eetvelt is eager to tackle the challenge, acknowledging that the focus will likely be on riders like the Slovenian sensation, Pogacar.

With expectations set high and a positive mindset, Van Eetvelt is geared up to take on the rigorous course at Strade Bianche with determination and confidence.
