ProTeam Baptiste Veistroffer wins stage 2 of the Tour of Oman after impressive breakaway
# Baptiste Veistroffer Triumphs at Stage 2 of the Tour of Oman
Last weekend, Baptiste Veistroffer showcased remarkable determination by leading from the front in the Muscat Classic. He repeated this impressive feat in Stage 2 of the Tour of Oman, clinching his first professional victory after an exhilarating breakaway that spanned nearly 194 kilometres.
The second stage, stretching from Al Rustaq Fort to Yitti Hills, proved to be a challenging one, particularly favorable for punchy riders. Early on, Veistroffer broke away alongside four other cyclists, establishing a maximum lead of five minutes. However, it was Veistroffer’s endurance and strategy that set him apart as he pulled ahead in the final stretch, despite the peloton—led by Adam Yates—failing to catch up.
After a series of 15 early breakaways and countless solo kilometres, the French rider from Lotto–Intermarché finally tasted victory. A jubilant Veistroffer expressed his emotions from Oman, stating, “You just have to keep believing. I definitely had a good day. I already felt strong last weekend in the Muscat Classic as well, when I rode 150 kilometres alone at the front. People asked me why on earth I was doing that, but I simply needed it.”
He continued, reflecting on teamwork and support, “More than my own performance, though, I’m happy with what the team has done for me this season and last. The staff, the coaches, the sports directors… I was listened to, given opportunities, and I learned so much over the past few months. They taught me how to race smarter and how to make the right move at the right moment. That I got the chance to go all-in today and was able to make the most of it makes this victory even more special.”
This victory marks a significant milestone in Veistroffer’s career, and the cycling community eagerly anticipates what lies ahead for this promising talent.
