# Alec Segaert Secures 2nd Place in Thrilling Time Trial at the Tour of Denmark
In a bid for redemption following earlier disappointments this season, Alec Segaert showcased his determination and skill during the short 14-kilometer time trial in Kerteminde, finishing in an impressive second place.
Segaert, who had previously faced challenges at the Belgian Championships and the Baloise Belgium Tour, entered this stage with optimism. “And that’s what happened today,” he expressed with satisfaction. “Finally a good feeling again on the time trial bike. Over the past winter I had some issues with my position, and perhaps I didn’t spend enough hours on the TT bike. During the altitude training camp I just completed in recent weeks, I deliberately put in extra kilometers on it. This time, with success.”
Completing the course just over five seconds behind winner Jakob Söderqvist, Segaert experienced the thrill of briefly occupying the top spot before losing it moments later. “He started right after me. For a moment I was in first place, but I never got the chance to sit in the hot seat (laughs). Still, Mads Pedersen finished behind me, Johan Price-Pejtersen, Soren Waerenskjold… I’m listed among those names, and I’m happy about that. I needed this mentally,” he stated.
Segaert’s strong performance has elevated him to fifth place in the general classification, igniting hope for further advancement. “With a good day tomorrow- a long and tough stage, by the way- I might be able to pass a few more guys, hopefully. I’m also in second place in the youth classification. We’ll do everything we can to move up and secure a nice overall result here,” he added.
As the Tour of Denmark progresses, fans will be eager to see how Segaert continues to perform, buoyed by this significant time trial achievement.
