ProTeam Air cleared around case Van Eetvelt

# Doping Case Dismissed: Van Eetvelt Set to Return to Racing

The French doping authority (AFLD) has officially closed the case against Lotto Dstny rider Lennert Van Eetvelt, initiated following a control on February 19th. The agency accepted Van Eetvelt’s explanation concerning the use of a nasal spray, allowing him to resume competition promptly.

On April 21, the AFLD sought additional clarification regarding a substance detected in Van Eetvelt’s urine during a doping check at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var. This substance was identified as an authorized ingredient, typically found in over-the-counter nasal sprays permissible in competition if disclosed during tests.

Van Eetvelt clarified that he used the nasal spray on his doctor’s advice and had duly listed it on his doping form. “I use this nasal spray sporadically in consultation with the doctor… it was therefore a surprise to me that the AFLD asked questions. I have now provided them with the demanded clarification. The doctor prescribes me this spray to treat my allergies,” he stated. The AFLD ultimately accepted his explanation, leading to the dismissal of the case.

Lotto Dstny expressed satisfaction with the swift resolution. CEO Stéphane Heulot remarked, “We were never worried and always confident of a good outcome… We are very happy that the AFLD has followed up this case so quickly, and the file can be closed after only three weeks with no further consequences for Lennert.”

Van Eetvelt is set to return to action at the Alpes Isère Tour on May 24. He has requested privacy regarding the incident and will not be making additional comments.
