The Tour of the Basque Country kicked off with an exhilarating individual time trial that saw BORA – hansgrohe’s Primož Roglič emerge victorious and don the coveted yellow jersey. The challenging 10km stage featured demanding terrains, including a grueling cobblestone section and steep ascents, ultimately leading to a nail-biting finish.

Roglič showcased exceptional form right from the start, dominating the race and setting the pace early on. Despite a minor setback of taking a wrong turn near the end, the Slovenian ace powered through to clock in at 12:34 minutes, clinching the stage win by a narrow margin.

Reflecting on his triumph, Roglič expressed his delight, stating, “I’m really happy with this victory. It’s always great to race the Tour of the Basque Country. I really like the atmosphere and the enthusiastic spectators here.” While the wrong turn added a moment of suspense, it did not dampen Roglič’s stellar performance.
