Preparing on two fronts for 2024 between Spain and Rwanda.

Article Title: Team TotalEnergies: Powering Up for 2024 with a Unique Dual-Continent Approach

With the start of the season fast approaching, Team TotalEnergies is gearing up for a new year on the world’s various fronts. To prepare, the team has strategically chosen a physical preparation program that uniquely combines the advantages of Spanish terrain with the altitude of Rwanda.

The winding roads of the Spanish hills provide a diverse terrain for riders to hone their technique and build endurance, while steep climbs and technical descents prepare them for the competition. Benoit Genauzeau, Director of Sport, highlighted, “Our first 10 days of training in Spain took place in perfect conditions. This enabled us to lay the foundations for our next season.” The team’s time in Spain also focused on building cohesion and forging links between riders and staff, as well as introducing new performance features for 2024.

Looking beyond Iberian roads, the team has expanded its horizons to Rwanda’s green hills, providing a unique dimension to their preparation. Maxime Robin, Performance Director, explained, “The aim is to optimize the riders’ performance for the start of the season. Over there [in Rwanda] it’s between 20 and 30 degrees, we eat organic food and there’s a training center at an altitude of 2,000 m, which are optimal conditions for part of the group and for the early-season deadlines.”

The training sessions in Spain and Rwanda have been carefully synchronized to make the most of each environment, creating a holistic training program. This unique approach demonstrates Team TotalEnergies’ commitment to excellence, pushing the boundaries of physical preparation and showing that cycling transcends geographical boundaries.

This innovative approach of combining the advantages of two continents showcases the team’s dedication to achieving peak performance and sets them apart as they gear up for the 2024 season.
