Paris – Nice: Mads Würtz Schmidt Seeks Crosswinds and Stage Wins

Danish rider Mads Würtz Schmidt is eagerly awaiting the start of the Paris – Nice race, set to begin this Sunday. Known for his love of crosswinds, Würtz Schmidt hopes for some challenging conditions in the early stages of the race.

Würtz Schmidt expressed his excitement, stating, “I am really looking forward to continuing my season at Paris – Nice. It’s a race that suits me well, like Tirreno Adriatico. But I like Paris – Nice, especially the first few stages in the north, with the cold and hopefully, crosswinds.”

With the team lacking a clear General Classification rider, IPT will focus on stage wins throughout the eight-day race. Würtz Schmidt has set his sights on a couple of stages where he hopes to make a breakaway or achieve a strong performance in the final stretch.

While the early stages of the race feature flat terrain, the route becomes hillier as it approaches Nice. Sports Director Steve Bauer explained, “Our Israel – Premier Tech riders are all healthy, ready and motivated, and as a team we are looking forward to the race. Paris – Nice is always an important benchmark in the spring where riders can test their early season form.”

Bauer further emphasized the team’s strategy, saying, “Each day we will assess what our best opportunities will be to challenge for a stage win.”

The Paris – Nice race is expected to provide an exciting challenge for the team, and Mads Würtz Schmidt is ready to embrace it. The race will take place from March 6th to March 13th, and the team roster includes Rudy Barbier, Guillaume Boivin, Carl Fredrik Hagen, Hugo Houle, James Piccoli, Mads Würtz Schmidt, and Tom Van Asbroeck.

It will be exciting to see Würtz Schmidt and the team push for stage victories amidst the varied demands of the Paris – Nice stages.
