The INEOS Grenadiers have announced the signing of Oscar Rodríguez, a cyclist known for his impressive climbing abilities. The Spanish rider achieved his breakthrough Grand Tour stage victory at La Camperona in the 2018 Vuelta a España. Despite facing setbacks, including a serious crash that forced him to abandon the Giro d’Italia earlier this season, Rodríguez has shown resilience and strength.
Deputy Team Principal, Rod Ellingworth, expressed his excitement about the new addition to the team, saying, “We are delighted to welcome Oscar to the INEOS Grenadiers family. Over the years, he’s consistently demonstrated his talent and ability to support his teammates over tough, mountainous terrain. He has the tenacity to seize an opportunity when it’s presented and take victories of his own – a characteristic we encourage in our riders. He will further strengthen our roster, and I’m sure his cool head and upbeat personality will be a great fit with our rider group.”
Rodríguez himself shared his enthusiasm about joining the prestigious team, stating, “I’m really happy to be joining the INEOS Grenadiers. It’s always been a dream of mine to be part of this team, one of the best in the world, and so this is a pretty special feeling.”
Acknowledging his natural talent in the mountains, Rodríguez mentioned that he aims to provide the most support to the team during climbs. He expressed eagerness to experience the challenging rides alongside his teammates while wearing the INEOS jersey. Looking forward to riding with Tour de France winners Egan Bernal and Geraint Thomas, Rodríguez sees it as an honor to learn from them and utilize their knowledge to develop and enhance his skills as a rider.
The addition of Oscar Rodríguez to the INEOS Grenadiers is expected to bring an exciting dynamic to the team, as they continue to strive for success in future races and tours.
