Amid the chaos of the fourth stage of the UAE Tour, Olav Kooij of Team Visma | Lease a Bike demonstrated his prowess as he surged to secure third place in a thrilling sprint finish. Following a competitive mountain stage to the Jebel Jais, Team Visma | Lease a Bike focused on positioning Kooij for success in the sprint stage towards the Palm Jumeirah peninsula. Reflecting on his decision to make an early sprint, Kooij remarked, “I felt I had the momentum.” Despite his strong lead, he narrowly conceded to Merlier just before the thrilling finish line.

The WorldTour race in the Middle East is set to continue with new sprint stages before culminating in a challenging mountain stage to the ascent of Jebel Hafeet on Sunday.

The race result saw Tim Merlier of Soudal – Quick Step clinching first place, with Arvid de Kleijn of Tudor Pro Cycling Team in second place and Olav Kooij securing a commendable third place.
