Recipes from the peloton: Rice Krispie bars
When IPT’s soigneur Jon gave Jens Voigt a Rice Krispie bar last week at the Giro d’Italia, who knew it would cause such a stir!
Inundated with requests for the recipe, we’re giving the people what they want! We’ve used the base recipe from @POCK-ITFUEL and added Bounty bars but the best thing about Rice Krispies is you can add any flavor or chocolate bar you want. So get creative!
What you’ll need:
– 60g of coconut oil or butter
– 250g of Rice Krispies
– 300g of marshmallows
– Optional: 3 bars of your favorite chocolate or a few good spoonfuls of any nut paste (choc hazelnut, pistachio etc)

Using either a saucepan or a rice cooker (handy if you’re on the road at the Giro!):

Melt the oil and your chocolate / paste and stir until combined. Make sure not to burn the mixture.

Add the marshmallows and stir until you reach a smooth consistency. Remove the saucepan from the stove / turn the rice cooker off.

Add the Rice Krispies and stir until combined. You can adjust the amount of Rice Krispies to achieve the right consistency.

Pour the mixture onto a baking tray lined with baking paper.
To stop the mixture from sticking, use a small amount of coconut oil on your hands or spatula and press the mixture firmly onto the tray.
Refrigerate for at least one hour and then cut into squares and wrap them up.
Enjoy!
