O’Brien and Stewart Extend Contracts with Team Jayco AlUla through to 2025
Australian rider Kelland O’Brien and New Zealander Campbell Stewart have officially signed new deals with Team Jayco AlUla, extending their contracts with the cycling team until 2025. The duo, known for their track cycling expertise, will primarily focus on their preparations for the upcoming 2024 Olympics before shifting their attention back to road racing.
O’Brien, who has displayed his immense potential in the spring classics, has impressed the team with his top-10 finishes in challenging races alongside some of the best riders in the world. Team Jayco AlUla believes that the Melbourne native has much more to offer and is excited to witness his continued growth.
Stewart, on the other hand, has established himself as an invaluable teammate since joining the team in 2022. He played a crucial role in helping Michael Matthews secure a remarkable victory at this year’s Giro d’Italia, demonstrating his selflessness on the road. Additionally, Stewart’s sprinting skills came to the fore during his recent professional sprint victory at the CRO Race.
GreenEDGE Cycling, the team’s parent organization, expressed their enthusiasm in having O’Brien and Stewart onboard for the next two seasons. The team’s General Manager, Brent Copeland, acknowledged O’Brien’s progress and praised Stewart’s versatility, stating, “Both these riders add a lot of value to the team roster, so it was important for us to see them continue to grow with us over the coming years.”
O’Brien spoke about his delight in being part of the WorldTour peloton for the past two years and expressed his eagerness to learn and contribute to GreenEDGE Cycling’s success for the next two seasons.
