Several athletes from the Bentonville/Fayetteville area of Arkansas showcased their skills at the recent Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships, earning well-deserved positions on the podium.
Held at the Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, Pennsylvania, from July 5-9, 2023, the championships attracted riders from all over the country. However, it was the twenty-three athletes from the northwest region of Arkansas who stood out among the rest, clinching six medals, including an impressive four golds.
One of the outstanding performers was Preston Ronck from Rogers, Arkansas, representing OZ Development. Ronck dominated the Junior Men’s 11-14 Short Track category, securing the top spot on the podium.
Nat Ross, hailing from Bentonville, Arkansas, and riding for the Specialized Factory Racing team, impressed in the Men’s eMTB Cross-Country event, earning a respectable fourth-place finish.
Ronck showcased his ability once again in the Junior Men’s 13-14 Cross-Country category, adding another gold medal to his collection. OZ Development can be proud of their rising star.
Ashley Green from Bella Vista, Arkansas, competing for the BettySquad Elite Racing Team, proved her strength and skill in the Master Women’s 35-39 Cross-Country race, capturing the top spot on the podium.
In the highly competitive Master Men’s 40-44 Cross-Country category, Chris Drummond from Bentonville, Arkansas, representing The Academy @ Bike School Bentonville, secured a commendable third place.
Drummond’s success did not end there. He also triumphed in the Masters Men’s 40+ Short Track, adding another gold medal to his name and showcasing his versatility and talent.
The achievements of these athletes from northwest Arkansas highlight the region’s growing reputation as a hub for mountain biking talent. With a combination of dedication, skill, and support from local organizations, these riders prove that they can compete on a national stage.
