# Magdeleine Dominates: A Journey from Sherbrooke to World Champion
Magdeleine’s stunning victory at the 2025 World Championships in Rwanda came as a revelation to many, but to her teammates and loved ones, it was merely the culmination of years of dedication and hard work. Known for her exceptional prowess in mountainous terrains, she has excelled in high-stakes events such as the Vuelta a España Femenina, Giro d’Italia Women, and Tour de France Femmes, as well as classic one-day races like Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold. Her undeniable passion for cycling is a driving force behind her success.
Reflecting on her early years, Magdeleine recalls the pivotal moment when she learned to ride a bike without training wheels at the age of eight. That Christmas, she received a new bike, and the following summer, her father initiated her cycling journey with an exhilarating nine-day, 1,000-kilometer bikepacking adventure. “I credit my dad – and that trip – with creating my passion for cycling that has guided my life ever since,” she shared, highlighting the significant impact her father had on her cycling career.
Magdeleine’s ascendancy in the sport was marked by her first professional win at the Trofeo Palma Femina in Mallorca in 2024, subsequently leading her to glory in Kigali when she claimed her coveted rainbow jersey.
Hailing from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Magdeleine honed her skills in her local club, dabbling in mountain biking, cyclocross, and road racing during her teenage years. Her cycling journey also included mastering the art of the track stand, a skill she amusingly admits she cannot resist demonstrating while waiting at red lights.
Despite her successful races in Quebec, Magdeleine realized that to elevate her competitive edge, she needed to venture to Europe. This determination led her to the UCI’s World Cycling Center program, where she immersed herself in development for two seasons before turning professional.
Now in her fifth year as a professional cyclist, Magdeleine continues to make waves in the cycling world. Those following her journey should stay vigilant; her relentless drive and talent promise a thrilling future ahead.
