Ninth place for Foss in second stage Renewi Tour

Ninth Place for Foss in Second Stage Renewi Tour

Norwegian cyclist Tobias Foss of Jumbo-Visma finished in ninth place in the second stage of the Renewi Tour. The stage, which took place in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in the Netherlands, was a short and flat race against the clock. Foss got off to a strong start and initially ranked third fastest before crossing the finish line. However, as the wind grew stronger, Foss lost some time and ultimately finished in ninth place.

Sports director Maarten Wynants commented on Foss’s performance, saying, “It was decent. Tobias performed at the level of the last few weeks, and Olav also did well. We had hoped he would lose less time, but in the end, the wind got stronger and stronger, which was not to his advantage.”

Wynants also noted that Edoardo Affini did not have a good day and lost pace in the second part of the race. However, he remains optimistic about the team’s chances in the overall standings, stating, “There are a lot of classics specialists at the top of the standings. Tobias has to try to stay in the front group. It’s not up to us to force anything. We will wait and let the other teams do the work. I expect an open battle tomorrow.”

The top three finishers in the second stage were Joshua Tarling from INEOS Grenadiers, Tim Wellens from UAE Team Emirates, and Yves Lampaert from Soudal – Quick Step. Foss finished in ninth place, followed by his Jumbo-Visma teammates Jos van Emden, Edoardo Affini, Mick van Dijke, and Olav Kooij.

In the overall standings, Joshua Tarling leads, followed by Tim Wellens and Yves Lampaert. Foss is currently in ninth place overall, with his Jumbo-Visma teammates also holding strong positions in the standings.

The Renewi Tour is part of the UCI World Tour men’s cycling calendar.
