Nick Schultz’s stunning performance at the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya took everyone by surprise, including himself. “This is huge for me,” the Australian cyclist expressed after securing a remarkable victory on stage 1 of the event.
Schultz’s strategic move, with support from teammate Stevie Williams, proved to be a game-changer as he broke clear near the finish line, ultimately claiming the most significant win of his career so far. I never once thought about winning the stage today, I was only thinking about the team.” He continued, “Ultimately, I never thought it would come to fruition, but I’m really thankful to Stevie for letting that gap go because he could have won that stage in his own right.”
The unexpected victory marked IPT’s 14th win of the season, with Schultz acknowledging the team effort behind his success. Reflecting on his achievement, he emphasized, “There’s such a good atmosphere in the team. We’ve got great personnel, amazing staff, and a great group of riders, and this is just the hard work of everybody paying off.”
Williams praised Schultz for his selfless contributions, stating, “I’m really proud of Nick, he’s a selfless helper and a great teammate.
