Mischa Bredewold Claims Victory at European Elite Women’s Cycling Championships

In an impressive display of skill and courage, Mischa Bredewold from the Netherlands emerged as the winner of the European Elite Women’s title at Col du Vam. The 23-year-old cyclist, supported by her team, successfully fended off attacks from the start of the race and managed to secure a lead during the demanding five-lap final.

Bredewold’s tenacity and determination paid off as she maintained her lead over the trailing pack in the final stages of the race, crossing the finish line three seconds ahead of her compatriot and reigning European champion, Lorena Wiebes. Lorena Wiebes, along with reigning world champion Lotte Kopecky from Belgium, completed the podium.

The race, consisting of eight laps on the Col du Vam circuit, saw the Danish team making multiple attempts to create a selection. However, the peloton remained united, thwarting any attacks except for a brief breakaway by Andrea Montagner (Italy), Theodor August Clemmensen (Denmark), Erazem Vlajavec (Slovenia), Felix Orn Kristoff (Norway), and Hector Alvarez (Spain).

In the Men’s Juniors Road race, Slovenian rider Azne Ravbar emerged victorious after a fierce competition. Ravbar took the lead during the final climb, securing the European title by a two-second margin ahead of Matys Grisel from France and fellow Slovenian Zak Erzen.

The European Championships continue with the Road races for the Junior Women and the Elite Men set to take place on Sunday at Col du Vam.
