Mavi Garcia Seizes Third Overall in UAE Tour Women with Impressive Climb

After an incredible performance, Mavi Garcia powered her way to third place on the queen stage of the UAE Tour Women, propelling herself onto the overall podium.

Garcia’s Liv AlUla Jayco teammates played a pivotal role in her success, working tirelessly to support her and ensure she was well-placed for the final ascent to Jebel Hafeet.

In Garcia’s own words, “I’m so happy, I never thought I could take this place because this climb is long and so hard and it’s the start of the season. I didn’t know what would happen and how my shape is. I’m really happy.”

Before the climb, Garcia praised her team’s efforts, stating, “Before the climb, the team did some really good work for me. They left me in first position in the bottom of the climb and then [Lorena] Wiebes made a hard rhythm, then she dropped and Realini made a hard rhythm. It was good for me but then she stopped and I decided to go by myself because in the group because Kopecky was in the group.”

In a thrilling display of strength and determination, Garcia powered through the ascent, putting pressure on her competitors and helping to narrow down the lead group to a select few riders. Despite her fierce effort, Garcia was unable to match the decisive attacks of Neve Bradbury and Lotte Kopecky, but her unwavering resolve landed her a well-deserved third place finish.

Garcia shared her immense satisfaction, saying, “I did my best but then Bradbury and I couldn’t follow but it’s ok. This third place is super.”

With this impressive performance, Garcia now holds the third position in the general classification, with only one sprint stage remaining.
