Matthew Riccitello Claims Top Spot in Young Rider Competition at Vuelta a San Juan

IPT’s American neo pro Matthew Riccitello made an impressive debut at the Vuelta a San Juan, winning the Young Rider Competition and finishing in ninth place on the General Classification. Riccitello expressed his satisfaction with the result, acknowledging that it exceeded his expectations for his first race of the year.

“Coming into Vuelta a San Juan, I knew I had good legs but I didn’t expect too much from myself just being the first race of the year,” said Riccitello. “I surprised myself a bit and am really happy with how that day went. And as a team, we performed really well.”

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Riccitello highlighted the strong support from his teammates in maintaining a good position for the final stages. Giacomo Nizzolo also had a successful race, securing two podium finishes, including a third-place finish in the sprint on the final stage.

“It was a great race in terms of atmosphere, and I really enjoyed racing here in Argentina as always,” said Nizzolo. “This week was about getting more racing miles and fitness in the legs, and it was great to be fighting for stage wins.”

Despite not achieving a stage win, Nizzolo expressed satisfaction with his performance and looks forward to his upcoming races.

The Vuelta a San Juan provided an opportunity for both Riccitello and Nizzolo to showcase their abilities and gain valuable experience for the season ahead.
