Mathieu Burgaudeau Comes Close to Victory in the Bretagne Classic

September has gotten off to a very promising start for Team TotalEnergies. After Geoffrey Soupe’s win on Friday, Mathieu Burgaudeau captured second place in the Bretagne Classic.

The prestigious Brittany race took place in Plouay on Sunday. Mathieu Burgaudeau came very close to the top prize after an exhausting route designed for punchers, finishing just a few centimeters behind Groupama-FDJ rider Valentin Madouas, who powered ahead in the last seconds. It was a great performance even so, giving Mathieu Burgaudeau his fourth World Tour podium this season.

“I Had the Legs to Win”

“Second once again. I really thought I had the legs to win today. I came back alone in the group of four at the end, and it was more complicated to maneuver with the two Groupama-FDJ riders. Valentin started to sway a little at the end as I came up behind, but it was too late.”
