Matej Mohorič Claims Victory on the Challenging Fourth Stage of the CRO Race

Slovenian cyclist Matej Mohorič has emerged triumphant on the fourth stage, dubbed the “queen’s stage,” of this year’s CRO Race. The stage, spanning a distance of 191 kilometers from Krk to Labin, showcased Mohorič’s perseverance and skill.

The stage began with a breakaway from Italian Mirco Maestri, Norwegian Jonas Abrahamsen, and Czech Michal Schuran. The trio built up a lead of 3:20 over the peloton, with Maestri securing first place at the intermediate sprints in Malinska and Viškovo.

As the stage progressed, the breakaway was reeled in by the peloton, and Abrahamsen powered his way to victory on the climb up Učka. However, it was Mohorič who ultimately stole the show.

After a crash in Sinj, Mohorič remained undeterred and crossed the finish line in Labin first, after a challenging cobbled climb. Reflecting on his win, Mohorič expressed his determination and gratitude to his team for their support throughout the stage.

Despite finishing in second place, American Magnus Sheffield took over the lead in the general classification. With only two days remaining in the race, Sheffield holds a one-second advantage over Venezuelan Orluis Alberto Aular. Mohorič’s victory solidified his position as a formidable contender in the race.

The CRO Race, which has attracted attention from cycling enthusiasts around the world, continues with its fifth stage, starting in Crikvenica and ending in Ozalj. The riders are expected to cross the finish line between 2:41 PM and 3:10 PM.
