Masterful Team dsm-firmenich secures victory in Binche-Chimay-Binche with Pfeiffer Georgi

Team dsm-firmenich showcased their cycling prowess in blustery conditions as they powered to victory in the Binche-Chimay-Binche race. Led by Pfeiffer Georgi, the team demonstrated exceptional control and strategic riding to claim the win on the challenging cobbled climb in Binche.

From the start of the race, Team dsm-firmenich took charge, ensuring no dangerous breakaways could form. They picked up the pace and tore the field apart as they tackled the local lap circuit. With every lap, the bunch thinned, and on the final lap, they split the race for good. As they approached the finish, Franziska Koch led the way, setting up Georgi for the decisive cobbled climb. Georgi unleashed a burst of power, leaving her rivals behind and securing the victory. This triumph marked the 20th win for the Women’s program in the 2023 season.

Expressing her joy, Georgi said, “I’m really happy and surprised actually. The team did an amazing job all race, and we came with a plan to split in the crosswinds. Every lap, we tried it, and the girls set me and Charlotte up perfectly.”

Reflecting on the team’s strategy, Team dsm-firmenich coach Kelvin Dekker stated, “We wanted to end the season on a high today, but we also wanted to do it with the team and have everyone involved. On the last lap, we had lost a bit of energy because we had reacted to all of the attacks really well. Franzi sent it to the bottom of the climb and emptied the tank completely. Charlotte made the right decision on the climb as we said beforehand that Pfeiffer would go full-gas and Charlotte would keep an overview of the rest. We had a tactical advantage with Charlotte being a few seconds behind, so we knew Schweinberger had to go to the line.”

Dekker praised the team’s unity, saying, “We see that each of the team brings each other to a higher level, and they can finish things off together. Today really shows what being a team means; it’s a special way to end the season.”

The victory at Binche-Chimay-Binche serves as a testament to the strength and cohesion of Team dsm-firmenich, solidifying their place as an elite cycling team.
