After an explosive start to stage three of the Tour de Wallonie, a breakaway group of seven riders formed and was closely monitored by teams such as Lotto Soudal. Despite facing several short climbs in the final stretch, the stage was ultimately decided by a sprint in Rochefort. De Lie’s powerful acceleration propelled him to an impressive win on the slightly uphill finish.

In a post-race interview, De Lie expressed his elation at winning on Wallonian soil: “It is really special to win in Wallonia for the first time,” he said. “Of course, I had marked this stage beforehand…and the team made sure it would be a sprint on this tough course. Jasper De Buyst guided me to the win.”

This victory marks De Lie’s seventh of the season, a remarkable feat for the Lotto Soudal neo-pro. When asked about his success, he admitted his surprise and stated, “I would already have been happy with one victory this season, so this exceeds all expectations. Everything that still comes now is a bonus, so to speak. But of course, I want to keep on going like this.”
