In a recent interview, cyclist Lewis Askey opened up about his disappointment at missing out on a sprint win. He expressed his frustration, stating, “I’m always disappointed when I miss the win, and that’s the case here because I feel I missed something.” Although Askey acknowledged that he will likely be happier with his performance in the future, he admitted that the disappointment is still fresh.

Askey shared his confidence in his form throughout the race, saying, “I felt, from the start, that I was in good shape. I felt it on the bike all day, except when I found myself alone at the front. That was tough [smiles] but I really had good sensations.” He also credited his teammate, Oliver Le Gac, for playing a crucial role in the race. Askey expressed regret, saying, “He did a great job for me, I’m actually sorry because I didn’t manage to finish the job.”

Reflecting on his missed opportunity in the sprint, Askey admitted, “Normally, I don’t have the right to miss a sprint like this.” This statement highlights his high expectations and determination to achieve success in his cycling career.

Despite the disappointment, Askey remains focused on improving and achieving future victories. As fans and fellow cyclists eagerly await his next race, it is clear that he will continue to strive for excellence in every sprint opportunity that comes his way.
