Jakob Fuglsang and Mike Woods will be joining forces for the first time this season as they lead Israel – Premier Tech at the first edition of Gran Camiño. The four-day race in Galicia promises challenging terrain, with plenty of climbing.
In an interview, Fuglsang expressed his enthusiasm for the race and his readiness to return to racing after recovering from Covid. He stated, “Looking at the Gran Camiño stages, it’s clear that every day will be a huge battle with a lot of climbing on the cards, which will be a good test of my form.”
Woods, who faced illness at the Ruta del Sol, is eager to reset his season and gain some race days under his belt. He said, “With the illness in mind, the big goal now is to get some race days in the legs and use this as a test and preparation for some bigger goals later in the spring.”
The race features a variety of challenges, including a 15-kilometer time trial on the final day. Sports Director Oscar Guerrero highlighted the team’s strong lineup and their aim for top results. He said, “We have a great chance to set the standard for the upcoming objectives here in Gran Camiño through good, tough racing.”
