Koen Bouwman finishes eighth in final standings of Tour of Luxembourg

After a week of intense racing, Koen Bouwman from Team Jumbo-Visma finished eighth in the final classification of the Tour of Luxembourg. Bouwman rode aggressively throughout the race, but was unable to secure a stage win. Maarten Wynants, the sports director of Team Jumbo-Visma, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.

“We didn’t expect Sam’s group to stay in front. It seemed evident that Team UAE would close the gap for the stage win. That didn’t happen. We agreed beforehand that we would be in the attacks, and we did that well. Eighth place turned out to be the best possible result for Sam. All in all, last week went well. It’s a shame we didn’t win a stage, but we generally saw a strong team. Everyone got the maximum out of it in their own way, and with Koen, we are well-placed in the top ten. We have to be satisfied with that,” said Wynants.

In Stage 5 of the race, Bouwman finished in 32nd place, while Tobias Halland Johannessen took the stage victory. In the overall classification, Marc Hirschi from Team UAE Emirates claimed the top spot.

Despite not achieving a stage win, Team Jumbo-Visma put on a strong performance in the Tour of Luxembourg. Bouwman’s top ten finish in the general classification is a testament to the team’s efforts.
