Team Jumbo-Visma Prepares for Tour of Spain with Tour of Burgos
Team Jumbo-Visma is gearing up for the last grand tour of the season, the Tour of Spain, with the Tour of Burgos serving as the final preparation. The five-day stage race will provide valuable experience and build-up for the team’s Vuelta squad, with Primož Roglič leading the charge alongside Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard.
The Tour of Burgos features a mix of stages, including a flat stage, a team time trial, two hilly stages, and an uphill finish. According to the team’s sports director, Marc Reef, the team time trial in Burgos is crucial preparation for the Vuelta’s opening stage, which is also a team time trial. Reef highlighted the importance of refreshing the automatisms and starting strong in the Vuelta, especially considering the challenging nature of the opening stages.
Roglič, who did not participate in any races after his Giro win, has had a solid preparation for the Vuelta this year. Reef noted, “Since 2019, he did not have such a solid preparation for the Vuelta. He was able to rest, and then he had altitude training to build up as planned. He is in good shape now.” The Tour of Burgos will provide Roglič with an opportunity to capitalize on his excellent form and aim for stage wins and a good classification.
The team’s line-up for the Tour of Burgos includes Roglič, as well as Jan Tratnik, Attila Valter, and Edoardo Affini. Alongside them are Robert Gesink, Gijs Leemreize, and Koen Bouwman. With an explosive final on the fourth stage and an uphill finish on the last day, the Tour of Burgos will serve as a good indicator of the team’s readiness for the Tour of Spain.
As Team Jumbo-Visma continues to fine-tune their strategies and performance in the Tour of Burgos, fans and cycling enthusiasts eagerly await their participation in the Tour of Spain, expecting a strong showing from their talented roster.
