Joe Blackmore leads IPT’s charge at the Tour of Britain
# Joe Blackmore Set to Lead IPT in the Anticipated Tour of Britain
As the Tour of Britain approaches, the challenge for the six-rider squad of Israel Premier Tech (IPT) is clear: replicate or even surpass one of the most impressive performances in the team’s history. The race kicks off in Suffolk on September 2 and comes after a strong showing in 2022, where IPT’s Stevie Williams clinched victory, bagged two stage wins, and led the team to triumph in the overall team classification.
**Joe Blackmore**, who finished fifth overall in last year’s competition, takes on a leadership role this time around. Joining him are recent Volta a Portugal stage winner **Brady Gilmore**, along with team members **Hugo Hofstetter**, **Nick Schultz**, **Moritz Kretschy**, and **Fin Tarling**. This year’s roster boasts a mix of Pro Team and IPT Academy riders, setting the stage for a compelling performance.
“I’m all set for this week and I’m really looking forward to it,” Blackmore expressed. “To go back after doing well last year, not just myself but Stevie and the whole team, is exciting. We have a different type of team this year, and the startlist is so strong, which will change how we race compared to last year.”
The race layout is intriguing, featuring a blend of flat and mountainous stages. The initial three stages will cater to sprinters, while the real battle for the general classification (GC) begins during stage 4 at Burton Dassett Country Park. The 12.5-kilometer circuit—a staple of the 2019 race—will see competitors tackle a challenging route that previously favored riders like Mathieu van der Poel.
Stage 5 promises the first of two segments in Wales, with challenging climbs including two ascents of the Tumble. The finale in Cardiff is poised for excitement, as the demanding Caerphilly Mountain lies just 15 kilometers from the finish line of a 112-kilometer stage.
“I’m confident and I’m really looking forward to the last three stages,” Blackmore added. “I want to see where I am and how I compare to guys who have been up there on GC at this year’s Tour de France. I’ve got that race in my legs and, together with my training since then, it has put me in a good place. I can’t wait to start!”

– **Riders**: Joe Blackmore (GBR), Brady Gilmore (AUS), Hugo Hofstetter (FRA), Moritz Kretschy (GER), Nick Schultz (AUS), Fin Tarling (GBR)

With aspirations high, all eyes will be on Blackmore and his team as they aim to leave a mark in this year’s Tour of Britain.
