Alex Baudin Excited about Top 10 Finish in Giro d’Italia (Stage 12)
“I’m really happy to sign a top 10 on a grand tour stage for my first participation. It was a special day for me, especially being in the same breakaway as Valentin (Paret-Peintre). We were roommates in Chambéry during our espoirs years, so it was special for us to experience this moment together,” says Alex Baudin after his impressive performance in stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia.
Baudin had been trying to break into the leading group since the start of the Giro d’Italia but had been unsuccessful until now. “With 30 riders in front, it was difficult to get organized. Unfortunately, we got caught out when the group was selected. We were at the back to put on a rain jacket. Behind us, it was a mess… I tried to anticipate the climb to Colle Braida by accelerating, but it didn’t work. I lost a lot of energy in the battle. I sprinted with what I had left,” he explains.
Despite the challenges, Baudin manages to secure a top 10 finish. “I’d tried, without success, to slip into the front on several occasions since the start of this Giro d’Italia. So to be able to do so today was a first satisfaction,” he expresses with enthusiasm.
Alex Baudin’s remarkable performance in stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia showcases his talent and determination. As a first-time participant in the grand tour, his achievement is even more impressive. With his roommate, Valentin Paret-Peintre, also in the breakaway, the experience becomes a memorable one for both riders.
