The INEOS Grenadiers has announced its highly anticipated roster for the 2023 Tour de France. With a mix of experience and emerging talent, the team is ready to tackle the challenges of the iconic race.
Deputy Team Principal Rod Ellingworth expressed enthusiasm for the demanding route, stating, “We’ve selected an exciting group of riders that bring a mix of skills and experience. The strength of this team will lie in the way we take on the race, and how we approach each stage with the options we have.”
One of the team’s standout riders is Egan Bernal, the 2019 Tour de France champion. Ellingworth praised Bernal’s determination and resilience in his return to full fitness, saying, “His grit and determination sum up what we’re all about as a team, and all our riders will benefit from his experience at the Tour.”
Tom Pidcock, who made a name for himself with a stage win and the white jersey at last year’s Tour, is also ready to make his mark. Pidcock expressed excitement for the opportunity to build on his previous success and race alongside the best riders in the world.
The team also includes seasoned riders such as Michal Kwiatkowski, Daniel Martinez, Jonathan Castroviejo, and Omar Fraile, who bring a wealth of experience to the race. Their knowledge and skills will be crucial in supporting the team’s goals.
Two riders, Carlos Rodriguez and Ben Turner, will make their Tour de France debuts. Both riders expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and their excitement to compete in the prestigious race.
For Rodriguez, it is a dream come true, stating, “Having the opportunity to do my first Tour de France in this team, with this group of guys, makes it even more special. I can’t wait.”
Turner, meanwhile, described it as an absolute dream, recalling his childhood memories of watching the race. “I never thought I’d pin a number on for this race, so it will be a moment I’ll always remember,” he added.
With a well-rounded team and a strategic approach, the INEOS Grenadiers are ready to give fans plenty to cheer about. As Ellingworth highlighted, “This year we have the freedom to be really tactical – to seize opportunities and take calculated risks. This dynamic might just be the unique advantage we need and perfectly illustrates our all-in mentality.”
The 2023 Tour de France promises to be an exciting and competitive race, and the INEOS Grenadiers will be aiming to make their mark on the iconic event.
