Ilan Van Wilder Set to Achieve Another Impressive Result at Tour de Luxembourg

After a strong performance in the individual time trial, Ilan Van Wilder is currently in fifth place with one stage to go.

Ilan Van Wilder showcased his time trial skills once again during the penultimate stage of the Tour de Luxembourg. The 23.9km individual time trial in Pétange proved to be a test of endurance and speed, and Van Wilder rose to the challenge. Starting the day in eighth place overall, he made a strong statement by finishing fourth-fastest at the only checkpoint of the stage.

Van Wilder’s performance only improved in the second half of the course, where he was able to take advantage of downhill sections. He finished the time trial in a commendable sixth place, just four seconds behind the podium winner Victor Campenaers of Lotto-Dstny. This strong display propelled Van Wilder up the rankings, and he will enter the final day of the competition in fifth place.

Reflecting on his time trial, Van Wilder commented, “I didn’t start too fast as I knew the last part, the descent, was where the wind would play an important role. I did a good time trial but I feel like I don’t have that top form from the Deutschland Tour as it has already been a long season. Normally I can really make the difference on the hills but now I was a bit more limited there, but I still had good legs and could put together a nice time trial. I’m satisfied with today and my season so far, and maybe I can add a good general classification spot to that on Sunday.”

Van Wilder’s performance at the Tour de Luxembourg has been impressive, and he hopes to continue his success in the final stage on Sunday.
