Il Lombardia 2023: A Grueling Battle of Climbs and Elation
The iconic Il Lombardia race is set to showcase the toughest climbs and exhilarating moments for riders in its 2023 edition. Known as the last tremendous effort of the season, this grueling Monument race covers almost 240 km with 4400 meters of altitude difference.
With a finish in Bergamo, reminiscent of the 2021 edition, fans can expect a nail-biting race filled with unforgettable moments. From Pogačar’s attack on the Passo di Ganda to the fierce struggles of Evenepoel and Vingegaard, the 2021 edition left its mark in the hearts of cycling enthusiasts. The final showdown in the heart of Bergamo saw Pogačar triumph over a resilient Masnada.
This year’s route promises the same electrifying experience with a rapid succession of climbs. The iconic Madonna del Ghisallo kicks off the race, followed by a challenging last 145 km with landmark ascents including Roncola Alta, Berbenno, Passo della Crocetta, Zambia Alta, Passo di Ganda, and the final climb towards Bergamo’s upper town, Largo Colle Aperto.
