New top ten classification for Jorgenson in Critérium du Dauphiné
The stage had many similarities to the previous day’s stage. Once again the peloton had to climb almost three thousand meters in altitude. An escaped trio did not give up easily in the final stage, so the peloton had to pull out all the stops to catch them. That eventually worked out, leading to a sprint for the day’s victory in the ascending kilometer. Canadian Derek Gee proved to be the strongest, just ahead of Grégoire. Because of the bonification seconds, the latter now takes over the white jersey from Jorgenson, who, like Sepp Kuss, finished among the other classification leaders.

Sports director Grischa Niermann described the day after the race. “It was a relatively quiet stage, despite a fast start. Because only three men rode away, control remained with the peloton. The nervousness was present though, especially when the pace went up on the final climb. Fortunately, Matteo and Sepp got through the day well. The eventual winner chose the perfect moment to attack. With Matteo among the top ten and Sepp right behind them we speak of a good day. We knew that the Critérium du Dauphiné was not going to be decided on a day like today. However, tomorrow’s time trial is a different story. We’ll see what we can pull off there. The guys are in good shape, but we’ll see tomorrow what that’s worth,” the German said.
