Hugo Hofstetter takes fourth on Tour of Britain stage 3
# Hugo Hofstetter Secures Fourth Place in Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain
IPT’s impressive performance continued on Thursday as Hugo Hofstetter claimed fourth place in stage 3 of the Lloyds Tour of Britain, held in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This stage was particularly significant for his teammate, Ethan Vernon, as it traversed his home roads.
Hofstetter previously achieved a commendable third place in the opening stage on Tuesday, reinforcing IPT’s dominance with riders finishing in the top 4 in 11 of the last 15 stages they’ve participated in during the UK’s premier international men’s stage race.
The French cyclist narrowly missed the podium, as Matthew Brennan of TVL secured his first victory in his hometown race, with Alberto Dainese (TUD) and Rui Oliveira (UAD) rounding out the top three spots.
Reflecting on his performance, Hofstetter remarked, “I think it was a good sprint for me. I like this sprint with the speed and [one where you need] also to keep the position.” He explained the challenges he faced during the race: “I was too far behind at 1km to go, but I got back to the front after the long left turn. And then I just made a mistake – I was a bit scared of the last right corner, and then I braked too much. I lost 2 or 3 positions and my sprint was changed by this.” He added, “I could have fought, I think, for the win or second today. So I’m a bit disappointed with this.”
The race continues to showcase the talents of Hofstetter and his IPT teammates as they strive for success in this prestigious event.
