Hugh Harvey: Pursuing Success as a Professional Cyclist
Meet Hugh Harvey, a young Australian who recently made the transition from rowing to cycling and is quickly making a name for himself as a sprinter. Harvey, who hails from a rowing background, decided to move to Europe a few months ago to pursue his passion for cycling.
In his own words, Harvey expresses his excitement and motivation for his newfound sport:
“I’m super happy. Excited even at the idea of becoming a professional cyclist in 2024 – at the end of my first season in the sport – with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team. It’s a new sport for me, but I’m highly motivated. I’ve been rowing for four years, at national level. I was in an eight with coxswain. I chose to come to Europe to progress in cycling, after stopping my rowing career. This is my first time in Europe. I currently live in the Netherlands. I took this step to succeed in sport. I started running, and quickly saw that I had sprinting qualities. My ambitions for next year with the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS Développement team will be to develop to a higher level as a runner, breaking new ground to prove my qualities as a sprinter. As the seasons go by, my aim is to represent ARKEA-B&B HOTELS at the highest level, not only by winning races, but also by helping my team-mates to do the same.”
With Harvey’s determination and drive, he aims to continue his growth as a runner and showcase his sprinting abilities. As he progresses, his ultimate goal is to not only win races but also support his team-mates on the ARKEA-B&B HOTELS team.
As Hugh Harvey takes on the challenges and opportunities that come with his switch to cycling, the world awaits to witness his growth and achievements in the years to come.
