Guillaume Boivin Makes Impressive Comeback in Belgium with Top-Ten Finish at Dwars door Vlaanderen

After a strong performance at Volta Catalunya, Guillaume Boivin showcased his good form by sprinting to a ninth-place finish in the WorldTour race, Dwars door Vlaanderen. Boivin expressed his satisfaction with the result, stating, “I’m pretty happy with the day… It’s been a while since I have been in this situation so I need to back myself a bit more and try to move and follow the best on the climbs.”

Despite being a shorter classic, the race proved to be challenging with eight cobbles sectors and 11 climbs. Trek-Segafredo played an active role in the race, with riders Sep Vanmarcke, Krists Neilands, Jens Reynders, and Boivin themselves leading the way. However, a crash on the Berg Ten Houte caused a significant split in the peloton.

Boivin and Neilands managed to stay in the reduced peloton, with Neilands attempting an attack in the final 50 kilometers. In the end, Christophe Laporte of Jumbo Visma claimed victory from a late chase group, while Boivin sprinted his way to a top-ten finish.

Looking ahead, Boivin expressed his optimism, saying, “All in all, I’m super happy with the day and looking forward to Sunday… It seems like the whole team is going in the right direction so it’s fun to be racing the bike.”

Sports Director Steve Bauer praised the team’s performance and highlighted the positive trajectory after Sep Vanmarcke’s podium finish at Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday. Bauer said, “We had a really good group of healthy riders which is critical in these races… All in all, a good day.”
