Greg Van Avermaet Secures Podium Finish at Tour du Limousin
Belgian cyclist Greg Van Avermaet achieved a commendable third place overall at the Tour du Limousin, showcasing his strong performance throughout the competition. Reflecting on his success, Van Avermaet expressed, “The assessment of the week is very positive. I had a good feeling in the most difficult moments and I’m on the podium in the general classification, which is a good result.”
Despite facing adversities, such as a puncture towards the end of the race, Van Avermaet praised the efforts of his team in bringing him back to the front. He added, “It was quite a difficult finish, so I wanted to make the sprint and I got another top 5. Despite the puncture, I don’t think we could have done any better today.”
This achievement follows Van Avermaet’s fifth-place finish at the Tour de Wallonie and his top 10 performance at the Circuit Franco-Belge. Looking ahead, Van Avermaet is preparing for the Bemer Cyclassics and the Deutschland Tour in Germany before his major objectives, the Grands Prix de Québec and the Grands Prix de Montréal, in September.
In the fourth stage of the Tour du Limousin, Van Avermaet secured a fifth-place finish. Additionally, he attained his first podium finish in a stage race since the 2020 Tour of Wallonia, where he claimed second place.
Benoît Cosnefroy also demonstrated a strong performance and secured sixth place in the final overall classification of the Tour du Limousin.
