Tour of Guangxi (Stage 3) – Amaury Capiot’s Sprint Destabilized by Competitor

Following an eventful sprint during Stage 3 of the Tour of Guangxi, Mickaël Leveau, a member of the Arkéa-Samsic team, expressed his disappointment with Amaury Capiot’s performance. Despite positioning himself well for the finish, Capiot was ultimately destabilized by another competitor, leaving the team with a bitter taste.

Leveau explained that the team had two tactical options for the stage, relying on either David Dekker or Capiot in the sprint. Ultimately, Capiot was selected due to his recent improvement as the season nears its end. With the help of teammates Alan Riou and David Dekker, who performed admirably to position Capiot in the lead, the team had executed their strategy flawlessly.

The final sprint, however, proved to be chaotic, with Capiot being thrown off balance by an opponent. Despite managing to stay on his bike, Leveau expressed his surprise at Capiot’s ability to do so, saying, “He was ideally placed to take a good place in Nanning. This sprint leaves us with a bitter taste, because our riders had done everything right.”

Despite the disappointment in the sprint, Leveau noted that Louis Barré holds 10th place in the provisional overall classification of the Tour of Guangxi after Stage 3. This serves as a small consolation for the team as they look ahead to the rest of the race.
