Fourth place for Jorgenson in season debut at Faun-Ardèche Classic, Piganzoli sixth
# Jorgenson Secures Fourth in Faun-Ardèche Classic Season Opener, Piganzoli Follows in Sixth
In a thrilling 26th edition of the Faun-Ardèche Classic, Matteo Jorgenson showcased his prowess, finishing in fourth place in his season debut. The race kicked off with eight riders forming an early breakaway, who managed to build a lead of over two minutes. However, they struggled to impact the race’s challenging finale.
The decisive moment came on the Mur de Roy, the key climb of the day, where Jorgenson pulled away alongside Paul Seixas. Despite his efforts, the French rider ultimately dropped Jorgenson, who crossed the line with a respectable fourth-place finish, while teammate Davide Piganzoli clinched sixth.
Race director Frans Maassen expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “I look back with satisfaction on the race we rode. Matteo, Davide, and Ben rode a very strong race. Compliments as well to Tim Rex, who did a tremendous amount of work. Unfortunately, one rider was by far the strongest today, but we can be satisfied with the way we raced.”
Looking ahead, the Faun-Drôme Classic awaits, concluding the French double-header. Maassen stated, “Tomorrow we want to go for another good result. It will be another tough day, but with the level the guys showed today, I’m confident we can achieve another strong result.”
