Yevgeniy Fedorov Renews Contract with Astana-Qazaqstan Team for Two More Seasons
Astana-Qazaqstan Team has announced that Yevgeniy Fedorov, the U23 road race World Champion, will continue to ride for the team for the next two seasons. Fedorov, 22, joined the UCI WorldTour in 2021 and has had a successful stint with the team so far.
In a statement, Fedorov expressed his gratitude for the opportunities the team has provided him, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, “Two debut years in the WorldTour gave me a lot despite the fact that these seasons turned out to be a tough period…My biggest success so far is the win at the U23 World Championships…There is a lot of work ahead and I am happy to continue riding for Astana, the team where I feel myself comfortable, where I found good support and understanding.”
Fedorov’s achievements include winning the road race of the Kazakhstan National Championships in his first year as a professional and his recent victory at the Under 23 World Championships. He also made his Grand Tour debut in 2022 by participating in the Vuelta a España.
Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Astana-Qazaqstan Team, expressed his confidence in Fedorov’s potential and emphasized the importance of continuing to work towards achieving more success. Vinokurov said, “Yevgeniy has a great potential, he is ready to work tirelessly, therefore, we can confidently say that the first serious results will not take long.”
As Fedorov prepares for the upcoming seasons, he is determined to reach his first professional wins and contribute to the team’s success. With the support of the General Partner “Samruk-Kazyna” and the Sports Support Foundation “SportQory,” Astana-Qazaqstan Team and Fedorov are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
