The INEOS Grenadiers capped off their performance in the Vuelta a Espana with an impressive showing on the final stage. Filippo Ganna showcased his sprinting prowess, clinching second place after fending off the peloton in an elite lead group. Supported by Omar Fraile and Kim Heiduk, Ganna held off the chasing pack with some monumental efforts.
Despite facing crashes and unfortunate incidents throughout the race, the team stood strong and fought together till the end. Ganna’s outstanding victory in the stage 10 time trial was one of the standout moments of the Spanish Grand Tour. In addition, his remarkable sprinting performances on stage five, stage 19, and stage 21 highlighted his versatility and speed.
Geraint Thomas, known for his tenacity, persevered through challenging circumstances to reach Madrid. After finishing second in the Giro in May, Thomas had a difficult time in the Vuelta due to crashes and time losses, causing him to slip in the general classification. However, he showcased his resilience with a fifth-place finish in a breakaway on stage 11 and another memorable day on the road on Saturday.
The INEOS Grenadiers proved their strength and determination in La Vuelta, with both Ganna and Thomas leaving their marks on the race.
