In her own words, “It was an exciting battle between me and Puck. I couldn’t get away from her.”

It was a risk, but luckily, it worked.” She also expressed her gratitude towards the enthusiastic crowd, stating, “It’s bizarre how many people came to see this. The crowd applauded everyone, and I think they saw a great race. I’m grateful to all the people for their encouragement.”
The Dutch rider also acknowledged the challenging nature of the race, stating, “Races like this push you and the others to a higher level. I think that can only be good for the world championships.” Van Empel’s teammate, Sophie von Berswordt-Wallrabe, also displayed a commendable performance, making her way up to seventeenth place from the back row. Reflecting on her achievement, she noted, “This was only my fourth cross at this level and the last for this winter. It was a completely different course to what I am used to, but I am happy to be in the top twenty.”
As the cycling season progresses, both Van Empel and von Berswordt-Wallrabe have shown their determination and passion to excel in their respective races. Van Empel’s success and the overall team performance are indicative of their hard work paying off, setting the stage for an exciting road campaign ahead.
